Soup made by browning flour on lard and adding water

Prežganka is a soup that is often prepared even for breakfast. The simplest soup is made with flour browned in lard, water and spiced with salt and carraway seeds. Usually it was thickened with buckwheat porridge, scrambled eggs, eggs benedict, mashed potatoes with sour cream or pasta. Dense prežganka was also a main dish with wholegrain bread dipped into the soup.
